First and foremost, NHLL is a player development league and emphasis will be placed on coaches to adhere to the Mission Statement.

When volunteers request to coach a team (head coach or assistant), the volunteer shall be asked a series of questions. The answers from the potential head coaches will be reviewed by the Managers Committee. The Managers Committee will present a recommendation to the board for the head coaches before the evaluation and draft. The local board shall then vote to accept or reject the recommended head coaches.

The local board will review and approve outside assistant coaches on a case-by-case basis.

All coaches selected must complete the Little League Diamond Leader Training Program through Little League International.
